Frequent Questions & Answers
Have a question that isn’t listed below? Please contact us and we’ll provide the information you need!
What is your shipping policy and what else do I need to know to ensure safe delivery of my wine?
We can only ship to those states specifically listed here and only ship via UPS. Adult signature is required at the time of delivery. UPS will make 3 delivery attempts, after which they will hold it for you for up to 5 days before sending it back to us.
If an adult will not be home during the delivery window or if you are concerned about extreme temperatures, you may elect at checkout to have your wine shipped to a UPS or UPS Store location near you or a friend or neighbor’s house and pick it up there. If your workplace allows you to receive shipments of this type, then that may also be an option. We highly recommend signing up for a UPS My Choice account and downloading the mobile app to manage and track shipments.
We may also contact you if we feel that we need to hold your shipment due to extreme weather conditions. Our goal is to make sure that your wines arrive safely, and we do not want to risk damage due to extreme cold or heat.
Note that most UPS Ground shipments will be received within 3-4 days from the ship date if you are on the East Coast, but please plan to allow at least 5 days and possibly longer if you are West of the Rockies or during periods of inclement weather. If you need your wine sooner, please select the expedited shipping method that best aligns with your needs.
Please contact us if you have any questions or special shipping requests.
How long should I wait before opening the wines that were just delivered? Is this ‘bottle shock’ thing real?
Yes – bottle shock is a real, albeit temporary phenomenon, and we recommend that you wait at least 1-2 weeks and possibly a bit longer before opening your wines, depending on how far they traveled. Note that while this condition can happen, it does not necessarily mean that it will happen in every case. We winemakers exercise a lot of care to bottle our wines and patiently let them rest before releasing them.
Sometimes, excessive vibration and rapid fluctuations in temperature can ‘reverse’ this aging process and as a result, the wine may be muted or ‘closed off’. This condition is reversible with a little time at rest in your home, preferably in a cool and dark location. Here is a great article that goes into things in more detail: https://www.wineenthusiast.com/basics/bottle-shock-taste-real
Are you open to the public for wine tastings?
We are not currently open to the public for tastings or tours, but you may find us at a local farmers market where we do offer tastings. We are happy to facilitate the pickup of your wine order and can process your order in person with advance notice. Please contact us to make arrangements so that we have everything ready for you.
Why are the grape leaves on your labels different colors for each wine?
For starters, the bright colors are fun and bring us joy! Second, we recognize that folks may gravitate toward a certain style or type of wine and we wanted to make it easy for everyone to tell the different wines apart. The idea came about when I once mistakenly grabbed a bottle of wine that I thought was something else only to be surprised upon opening that it wasn’t!
